Sakhmet
..mare..six..arabian..grey..15.1 hh..

They had disappeared; gone like a storm only to leave destruction behind. Sakhmet stood along a rising dune, her two toned eyes overlooking the sands with such devastation, it was hard to believe that only she could see the wreckage in the otherwise unchanged lands. Not only had he stolen her Beloved from her side, but he had taken her completely! When she could not even scent the midnight colored enchantress upon the breeze, Sakhmet lost all reserve that held her emotions in check. Tossing her head back to stare up at the heavens, the blood marked mare let out a scream of anguish. Everything inside her breaking, heart shattering, until her pale form collapsed where she stood. Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably, sobs wracking her body. No matter how strong she had been her entire life, Sakhmet could not withstand this. The warrioress could not thrive without her heart.

Time wore on, and despite how broken she felt, Sakhmet could not lay there forever. With shaky legs, she forced herself to stand. To begin walking, although she didn’t really know where she was going. Only when the crashing sea reaching her ears and she looked out across the surf did she realize that all ties to this island had been broken. The desert born mare no longer had a reason to stay tethered here. Her son was plenty old enough to be on his own. He took longer spans apart from her side, spendings days exploring now instead of only hours. Sakhmet had done well to teach Ra everything he needed to know to thrive. To do better than she and his sire had done. She would miss her son, but it was time to escape this prison.

Running the last few strides across the sand, her chest collided with a wave at full force. The cold force was nearly enough to take her breath away, but the grey mare did not slow. She drove on that much harder, letting the sea pick the direction it would take her. She swam blindly, no longer strong enough to fight fate. Should she drown, it would be a welcome remedy to her pain.

The grey mare did not perish though. She stumbled up onto the shore of a new island, not realizing it was the only other one she had been on before. It was such a long time ago now, and it had been brief. Her mind was still preoccupied with grief, an excuse to why she doesn’t really take into account her surroundings. Instead, she trudges up into the trees. Her eyes narrowed against all the foreign green before she lowers her head and begins to snap up mouthfuls of grass in an angry manner. Not even bothering to shake away the salt water first.
