Who knew pups would be such work! Sure, Kajika had younger siblings, though his interaction with them had been very limited. He doubt he would even recognize them at this point all these years later. At this point it didn't matter that much, he had three one-year old pups he kept watch over with Bastet. He wondered on occasion what the nature of their relationship was. In the end, so long as he was present for Ausir, Kaya, and Tannda, that was what really mattered. The brindled male did not have eyes on any of the three, yet he knew at least one was close.
Ausir had taken to stalking his father more often than note, determined to outmatch the skilled hunter that Kajika was. Of course, the father had more time under his belt to perfect the skill. The boy had quite a bit of catching up to do. The white and brown youth prowled through the tall grass in an attempt to sneak up on his father. He would get him this time, he was sure of it.
"You'll have to do better than that," Kajika said. A small smile played on his maw as he listened to the rustling of grass that was not caused by the wind.
C'mon dad. Can't you just give me a little bit of lee-way?" Ausir whined as he trotted up to his father's side, eventually matching the older male's oddly leisurely pace. Kajika turned his cerulean eyes to his son and shook his head. "If I give and give, you'll never reach your full potential. Hard work and dedication, you'll get there," he said as they continued towards the heart of Asteraia. Ausir groaned. Hard work this, hard work that. He knew life wasn't all hard work, but it'd be nice if some things were easier. With that, the father-son pair padded along and spoke of things as a father to son. Something Kajika wished he'd had more of with his own father before Jinan had passed. Such was life, and the cruelty of a bond no one chose. These thoughts he kept from his son for now. It was not a conversation for today. Rather, they enjoyed the summer breeze and the rolling plains of home.
