Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

MAIKO

Maiko had been drawn out of Diveen with a fierce curiosity. Arturio had been called to battle, and so too had the queen of Spirane only some weeks prior to Arturio's summoning. Of course, Maiko had wanted to rush to Arturio's side but she had refrained: he had healers for that, after all. Maiko had learned a little, yes, but not enough to be of any real help lest she accept simply gathering and bringing supplies...and she had little interest in that kind of service. Instead, Maiko wondered if she might be able to track down whoever had thought themselves a suitable leader of Diveen...For what purpose? Well, she hadn't entirely worked through that question. She just knew that her curiosity would drive her to madness if she didn't at least try to satiate it.

So, she finds herself tracking a barely-there scent from the borders of Diveen. Rain had washed much of it away, and she can't help but curse herself a little for having waited so long before acting. At least, she figures, she had been waiting for a good reason...It was important, after all, to ensure that the borders themselves were secure beforehand. Of course, it does little to alleviate her frustrations. The fields are vast, she thinks, and their would-be usurper could very well be hiding anywhere. Even an injured wolf could travel far, and if he had slipped across the flood waters before the rain...Maiko knows she has little chance of recovering a scent if that were the case.

With a huff, and bristling hackles, she continues to follow one of the many streams that lace the fields towards Diveen. Her nose to the ground, ears flickering here and there, she searches hungrily for any indication that she's on the right track. Or...any track really. Honestly, she didn't mind who she found. Any stranger would be good, if for nothing but giving her curiosity something to latch onto and pick apart. Why were so many wolves feeling unsatisfied with their leaders? She'd even woken up to a call out of Taviora not so long ago, though she could have sworn she didn't hear a response...

With a flick of her ear, she suddenly straightens up, struck by the idea: Taviora! Just as quickly, she pivots towards the north-west, mulling the idea over with a cursory glance over her shoulder towards Diveen. It was a bit of a journey...and the waters were still high...But Arturio was in good care, and it was important information...With a self-affirming nod, she starts on her journey to Taviora. It would cover a lot of ground, and thus it would present her plenty of opportunities to learn more about what exactly was going on with all the challenges for leadership taking place.

First thing was first though: after a short trek, she finds a deeper stream, cleaner than the others and lined with sandy soil and smooth pebbles. With the summer sun quickly rising behind her, she feels the first rays of a hot day on her back. She does not enter the water to cool off though, but rather to wash at least some of Diveen's scent from her fur. She might still stink like a Diveen wolf to some capacity, but she could always claim being little more than a visitor, or at worse, a defector. In any case, it felt right to take some precautions -- she couldn't know who was waiting out there, and just what they had in mind. If Diveen was being targeted for its leadership, Maiko figured...What else, or who else, would be targeted?
