Your river of judgment
Though her first pregnancy had felt like forever, it came and went with the wind. Ever since she officially joined Akello in the Desert, Jordan has been happy. The joy Akello brought to her life was incredible. She made him feel at home even as she left the place she was born to live with him. Of the Badlands wasn't far, but she still felt a piece of her younger self left behind in the tall walls of hard sand. The Badlands was the place her mother had been born, the place her mother had died giving birth to herself, and the place she was brought into her adoptive family. Roheryn and Daciana had protected her from the lingering coyote waiting to feast on an easy meal. Daciana had taken her in willing and fed her to strength, but the mother daughter bond had been short lived. She was about six months old when Daciana left her and her blood born daughter Kimber alone in the Badlands. Left them for another herd, a charming stallion she hears. Jordan had no interest in seeing the mare again despite the fact that she had traveled to the Cove to meet Daciana's newest son (Okay so maybe that was a lie. She was still very interested to understand what the mare's thinking was in leaving two of her children behind those years ago). She was still curious what had happened to the only mother she ever knew as things at the Badlands herd grew dim.
Tension had erupted between Feray and Roheryn which was sad because she really liked Feray. The mare had always been kind to her. Jordan had thanked Roheryn for everything he had done for her before she left the Badlands behind. That chapter of her life was over. The rest of her life was just beginning as a new mother and a new lover to the chimera son of the Desert's leader. Upon learning she was pregnant, she quickly told Roheryn the news. He was delighted to hear and made her promise to show him the baby when it was born, but he also gave some mystery as to where he would be staying. She learned he would be giving the Badlands over to Ajnur come spring. He didn't say he was leaving the Badlands, but she could tell the difference in her father. Something was deeply wrong. She assumes it had something to do with the Feray situation, but she didn't ask for clarification. Jordan stays away from the drama in her own peace of heaven in the Desert that she had found. She stays there until one night the pain strikes.
A handsome colt was born in the dead of night. Jordan had felt more pain than ever in her life, but she had silently given birth to her child. She stayed quiet to not alarm anyone. As far as she knew nothing was wrong and thankfully, nothing had been wrong. She was excited to show everyone the healthy son she had birthed, but possessiveness suddenly took over. Jordan had no idea this would happen. After being abandoned as a foal she was determined never to do the same to her son. She wanted all these first precious moments with him in private before she introduced him to everyone else. Before she knew it, days had passed. Guilt sets in like a wrecking ball as she thinks of Akello. Would he be upset with her for keeping their beloved son all to herself? The grullo mare decides it was time to come out of hiding. She guides Yaeger out into the open before calling to Akello and the herd to come meet their new herd member.
