Roisin was not sure if she would ever feel truly at home anywhere other than the Ridge, but Iscariot's side was a close second. He would never fit the role of stereotypical band stallion, but in a way that suited Roisin far better. She would never be content to be the perpetual herd mare that her mother had slowly turned into. Roi had always craved adventure and excitement, even from her first days as a young filly traversing the Ridge for the first time. The thought of staying in one place forever - even if it had Iscariot in it - held little appeal to her.
Nor was she willing to passively continue waiting in the Ridge for Nyimara's next attack. Now that her father was for sure back on the islands, she knew it was only a matter of time before the silver-haired witch started coming after her family again.
Guilt flickers in her part-colored eyes as he hisses in pain, but it's tempered with her delight in his surprise. Just as she might feel bad for nipping her sisters too harshly in the grips of play, the guilt never lasted when the intentions were good. The bright girl chuckled at his playful description of her, and peeled away from him to strike a pose.
"For once my pale friend, you are correct in something," she teased, tossing her tail and returning to a normal speaking position. "You have had dayyyyys of peace while I was gone, so you have no room to complain." Despite the flippant choice of words, doubt still managed to thread its way into her tone. She still felt guilty for being the reason he had left the Ridge in the first place, and never wanted him to feel obligated to be in her presence. Iscariot had always been her protector, and she loved him for it, but she never wanted to be his job.
Lifted by his playful hip bump, she offered him a lopsided smile that faded as the seriousness returned between them. His words are little more than a whisper and the lack of confidence squeezes her heart in a vice grip. If he didn't want to go, she wouldn't. She would go wherever he wanted to be, even if it was back to the Ridge for now.
Roi, what if they don't want me there? His question stalls her for a moment, and stills her kneejerk reaction to try and comfort him. To boldly claim that they would have no reason not to want him there, but his honesty begs the same of her, and she draws in a slow breath before answering. "Then we find somewhere else to go." She reached out to bump his cheek reassuringly, her gaze flicking back to his as she pulled back. "I mean it."
She let her words settle for a second before trying to recapture some of their earlier play, not yet ready to give up those beautiful moments of light-heartedness that were so rare these days. "Plus, if they tell us no, it's their loss anyway." Smirking, she sauntered a few steps forward with a flick of her tail. "They would be fools to turn us down."
