Maybe you haven’t seen or read the promos for the Missouri COVID lottery. The intent of the COVID lottery is NOT to reward people who have waited until the last damned minute to get their vaccines. It is meant to reward EVERYONE who lives in Missouri and has gotten their vaccines, regardless of when they got them.
I live in Missouri. I am an essential employee. I worked every damned day of the earliest, most-risky days of the coronavirus. I am a senior, so I wanted to get my vaccine as early as possible. MY EMPLOYER wanted me to get an early vaccine, so I could help him keep his essential stores open.
My employer has stores on both sides of the state line. His Kansas-side stores had the vaccines available first, so he arranged for me to be part of the first group of employees vaccinated, in Kansas.
Check the weather records for Valentine’s Day, February 14. I drove twenty miles each way through rain and ice and snow on Valentine’s Day to get to Kansas for my first shot on the earliest day I could get it.
I got my shot, and I went to work. I went back to the Kansas store in March, better weather, and got my second shot.
The COVID lottery is ALSO meant as an incentive for people who have dicked around until July or August to get their virus shots. Those laggards have helped make Missouri and Kansas two of the most embarrassing states in the nation for NOT getting their shots yet.
You think there is some reason why I shouldn’t put my name in the hat for the Missouri COVID lottery??? If so, you’re out to lunch.
