News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Visenya
that is our great glory, and our great tragedy.

Visenya had, for the most part, kept her distance following Nymeria's victory. Her sister had been tended to vigilantly, and Visenya felt there had been little she was able to offer considering the circumstances; she was no healer, after all, and had few words that others had not already said more eloquently than she could. In truth, she had kept her distance because she felt a little ashamed too. Part of her wished she had been able to take the blows for Nymeria, had been able to put her body and blood on the line, but the laws of the pack forbade it. If she had been more bold, more willing to rise in the ranks before, would it have changed that? What would it take, she wondered, to gain the right - the privilege - to do so?

It had been that question that drove her to pace the territory in an effort to sweat out her thoughts and free up space in her mind. It had been her frustration at her inability to protect her sister that had, likewise, driven her to follow the male across the borders and beyond too. Of course, Visenya kept to herself, and kept herself back enough so that her scent didn't dare give her away. Part of her felt guilty, after all, for following him. How could she not? He hadn't requested an escort, or given any indication of needing one...but Visenya had felt compelled, unable to hold herself back. Visenya felt guilty because she realised she had been using the wolf, Paxton, as a way to settle her debt with herself. It wasn't right - was it? - to use another for one's own goals. It made her shiver, but she had found herself a nice place to relax while he did whatever it was he did.

She could hear him faintly in the distance, though his words had been nothing more than distant murmuring to her. When he fell silent, Visenya waited a short while before curiosity got the best of her and she snuck up on where he had been, ensuring he was gone by the time she peered through the shadows. Rocks? Her head tilted in curiosity. The rocks were not natural, she figured after a moment, for they had been placed atop one another, too precisely and carefully to be a result of mother nature. Curiously, she sniffed at the air, and she smelt the wildflowers in the gentle breeze, could see their colours against the greystone. Her heart sank at the realisation of what she had intruded upon. Beneath her breath, she offered an apology and backed away, her head low in a bow as she returned to the path and began to follow it back towards Spirane.

Visenya was ashamed, and she had forgotten to consider her pace. On the path ahead of her, Paxton quickly materialized. Visenya hadn't noticed him until it was too late (or at least, she felt it was too late) and she was only several yards behind him, exposed to the sun and mountains, no longer able to hide herself away in the shadows and trees. He'd likely noticed, for her pace had been quick and unhindered by her attempts to hide herself, and she fumbled over her steps for a moment. Quickly, she tried to hold herself more upright, a little more proud and a little less guilty, and she began to pace up the path again - this time, with a little more purpose. At least, impliedI> purpose.

"It's a fine day for a walk, isn't it?" Her voice had been tentative, and her smile small, but she hoped he wouldn't piece things together too quickly. The path, after all, wasn't exactly the most well-used one, at least not recently. Perhaps he'd been more astute beforehand too, though she hoped not...Would it have made Kalseru and Nymeria look poorly, to have their own sister following pack-wolves without their knowledge? To have their sister stumble upon the graves of strangers, where she had not been invited? The thought made Visenya's ears flicker back, and she bit down on her teeth but for a second.

Nonetheless, she quickened her pace to better match his. It was less suspicious - wasn't it? - to do so, to at least make contact with him rather than linger in the background. Even if her intentions had been to benefit the pack, she couldn't help but over-think them. It would at least do well to give him proper company, wouldn't it? Company of the living, at least. "I hope you didn't encounter any troubles. In the forest, that is. It's...been an interesting time lately..." She trailed off, and inadvertedly looked over her shoulder back towards the path that lead to the graves. To herself, she wondered whose they had been, and if one day, she'd have the courage to meet the gravestones of those that had come before her too.
