Sunflowers and sunshine;

It was a dream, like a haze that she could not awaken herself from. This sense of unfamiliarity and yet knowing somewhere deep down that she knew him from somewhere. But where? Had he come to the Prairie before? Is that where she knew him from. Had he been a friend of father’s or mother’s? The confusion hangs over her like a pebble caught in her hoof. He seems friendly enough. The look upon his face is that of clear confusion, as though he too felt the familiarity between them but was not ready to be the first to speak it into existence. But why? Why not?

”Foalain? I don’t think I've ever heard of her. At least, father never mentioned her before. I did not spend much time outside of the Prairie myself.” she murmurs with a nervous chuckle, her long silver white tail flicking slowly against her golden hips. He seemed polite and friendly even, and him, a mere stranger here like herself. But… perhaps. Small dished face tilts up to meet his steady gaze, a bright smile upon her ashen lips. ”My name is Ayiana by the way, my father w..is Shamwari. I have been searching for him. He left Luthien and I was hoping I might find him here.” she murmurs, her angelic tones dropping in octave as she glances at the imposing jungle just beyond the white sandy beach.

Gingerly she extends her muzzle towards his own, inhaling a deep breath of his scent and savoring the flavors that lingered there. Like a downpouring rain it hits her, flashes of memory that the gentle child suppressed. A night of darkness with only the faintest twinkling of stars for light. Heat. Hot breath against her icy skin, sending shivers coursing through her veins. Teeth, even now she can feel the scrape of teeth across her withers as the monster held her beneath him with cooing whispers and confusing growls. Pain. Like the trickling of blood that seeped from the wounds left by his teeth she felt pain, except this pain was something deeper, something felt in the very core of who she was.

As if shocked by his touch she jerks her head back, a squeal leaving her lips as eyes darken and narrow. ”You!!” she gasps, her breath coming short and uneven as fear causes tension to build beneath her skin, her body rigid. ”It was YOU!” she speaks again, this time her voice trailing off as the force of the memories overwhelms her mind and gives her nothing else but to accept them. She can feel his skin against hers, the press of his sweating body mingling with her own. Her body had responded to his, fighting against what her mind screamed. Gavriel. She wanted to think of Gavriel in that moment but it would only have cursed his handsome face in her eyes for that is all she sees in the polite creature before her. Betrayal.

She takes another step backwards, fluted ears burying beneath the silken alabaster tresses of her mane as her proud head lifts. For the first time in her young life, she feels what anger is like, feels the rage boiling inside her and the raw sorrow and regret as it eats at her thoughts and her memories. Crystalline tears gather in the corners of her eyes but she refuses to let them fall, not for him. ”What did you do to me?” she whispers, her voice timid and shaking beneath the weight of the reality that she had long since hoped and prayed was nothing more than a nightmare.
