Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

as long as evil exists, i shall live!
ancient spirits of evil, call to me, transform me, come to me...
It was almost finished. His grand den beneath the roots of a giant tree was nearing completion. The main chamber was easily big enough to comfortably sleep five adult wolves. Even if they rolled about like hogs in a sack it was unlikely they would disturb the other resting denizens. He had also completed six of his planned entrances and exits. Some might call this build rather extravagant, considering it was only him using this space, for now at least. In the near future Moonshade hoped to share this warm and comfortable place with the pack, and maybe this winter some pups. Of course he couldn’t take all the credit for the construction work. A few members had leant a paw. At least the waterlogged ground had made excavating the earth an easier task.

Structural integrity was now a very real concern. Moonshade had felt the best course of action was to give the soil time to dry out. Today he was outside decorating one of the entrance tunnels with a mixture of excavated animal bones. Mara Sov had also given him some flower decorations that he had carefully laid nearby until he had decided where to place them. He used to decorate the sands outside the den he shared with his family when he was a young puppy. Slowly he shuffled the small bones while he tried to decipher what should be placed where for maximum display potential. Narrowing his eyes he felt sadness starting to seep into his heart. Shimmerpaw. A whimper escapes from his throat. What happened to you little sister?

He pauses, turns his back upon his little projects and takes a few strides into the nearest clearing. Golden eyes stared up into the clouds that he can barely see through the canopy. Moonshade hated thinking about his lost family members. To be honest, if he ever saw them again, he’s not entirely certain how he would respond. Would he embrace them? Or attack them for abandoning him like this? Well, he wasn’t alone anymore, hopefully he would never be lonely again. Then from nowhere a low growl rumbles through the underbrush. Instinctively all the black and grey hairs rise along the full length of his stocky body. An intruder?

Lifting his large paws he breaks into a brisk lop. Depression and darkness are thrust into the back of his mind while he focuses on protecting Taviora and all that reside within his wooden realm. He is their guardian, he is the Gravekeeper and he will defend what is rightfully theirs. Bursting through the bracken and ferns his eyes narrow as they fall upon the stranger. At first Moonshade is confused as he slows to a halt. He tilts his head to one side as he analyzes the intruder. The older male looks a lot like Dexter.

With an alleviated sigh Moonshade nods in understanding. Shaking out his coat he turns and beacons the returning family member with the flick of his tail. There was still a tension in his muscles as he wasn’t certain why this wolf had returned now? And what was with the growl? One eye was still narrowed on the painted male in wary concern. To this day Moonshade doesn’t understand why Dexter hadn’t taken the title or Alpha male? It is something that he can never ask but one day hopes to discover. When Moonshade had come to explore Taviora for the first time, Dexter’s was one of the only fresh scents he could smell. The Nightwatcher was probably out now dutifully crisscrossing the forest trails, as he usually does. Moonshade was content to allow Dexter to 'do his thing' unhindered and without supervision. They hadn’t know each other for very long but for whatever reason Moonshade inexplicitly trusted Dexter and planned to promote him to a council position within the near future.

Moonshade had to quickly remind himself that this wasn’t Dexter. But the shared resemblance between these two wolves was uncanny. Perhaps this was a brother or even a son. Either way, they are welcome within Tavoira’s borders so long as he wasn’t bringing trouble home with him. Although he is ready to fight off any wolf that threatens his home, regardless of the forest blood in their veins, he really doesn't want to unless he has to.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
