Carbon took as much time in the swim to Salem as Rade needed, noting the older stallion's speed but not commenting on it. It was no secret the Lagoon boss was up in years but Carbon didn't see that as a weakness, only as more experience in the world. Did he feel he could learn something from the other stallion? Most definitely. It was just only certain things he felt he wanted to learn. Once Rade came out of the water, Carbon was already ready to go, but he still thought of Rade as his superior since he was under the Lagoon's rule. That meant Rade picked what they did and when in his opinion. That was the way he was raised, anyway. He turned his head to the other stallion, asking what he should do. Rade asked him to call for his father, but his next words caught him off guard. Keep his secrets? A single ear flicked back and the younger stallion's brow arched with question. What secrets was he referring to? Was it just general advice or something deeper? He parted his lips to ask but then thought better of it. No, better to think on it some more first. Finally, he nodded his head in acknowledgement to the words and threw up his head in a whinny for Cain. It wasn't long at all before an answering call echoed over the dunes and the sound of thundering hoof beats heading in their direction reached their ears. Carbon gave an audible gasp and took an instinctive step forward the moment the large black and white stallion appeared over the sand galloping toward them. The pride was evident in the solid black stallion's eyes as he watched his father approach. And the moment Cain's eyes laid on his son, they lit up like the sun and he gave a toss of his head, sending out another nicker of greeting as he slowed his gait. A smile lit up his lips, though his face sobered a bit when he saw the older palomino roan standing with his son. His brows furrowed a bit but when he caught the stallion's scent, his ears folded forward in curiosity. Why was the Lagoon here with his son? Cain knew better than to think he was just hand delivering his son back to him. That didn't seem like something the Lagoon would do. No, they'll hold onto him however long they can. His gaze swept over his son, checking, but he only saw superficial scars from sparring and rough housing, nothing too serious or sinister. Carbon seemed to be in good health too, his coat glowing and his eyes still full of hope and good intentions. That settled Cain's heart and he let out a breath of relief at the sight. He didn't hesitate to approach his son, embracing him for a moment by throwing his thick neck around Carbon's. He inhaled his son's scent, memorizing it all over again before he took a step back and turned his gaze to Rade. Carbon seemed overjoyed to see his father again, his smile lighting up his whole face as he hugged his dad and then dipped his head respectfully in greeting. "Hey, dad. This is Rade, leader of the Lagoon. He wanted to meet you and see our home." Carbon's gaze searched his father's features, hoping he wouldn't think his son had come here to betray him or anything. But Cain had no hesitation or mistrust on his face as he nodded and dipped his head in greeting to the palomino. "Then it is a pleasure, Rade. As you already know, my name is Cain and this is my home." The Vanner stallion watched the Lagoon boss with a mixture of curiosity and wariness. He wanted to make his own judgement of the stallion and his bachelor home on his own, but he couldn't completely ignore the rumors he'd heard over the years either. He was intrigued to see what the stallion would show in this meeting though.
