You’re not Salinger. Get over it.

Was Frey kidnapping him? Maybe, actually. They do say never to go to a secondary location, but the colt is doing his best to seem… unassuming? Maybe that was the word he’d use. Frey isn’t scary, not yet. No, for now he’s just a child. A boy. A boy with boyish charms and pure intentions. That’s not even a lie-- there’s something exciting about being able to bring someone home and keep them safe. The Lagoon is, of course, safe… they are men, after all.

Pippin. Another name for Frey to commit to his memory. He’s been collecting the names of others, storing them in his memory, keeping them for a rainy day. Keeping them for when he needed them. Learning made him feel alive, after all. There was a reason that he passed his days in the Lagoon, tracing each and every one of the paths and trails that scarred the landscape. There was a reason that he was going to train as hard as he possibly could, to fight. Learning. Improving. The drive in the colt is something nearly unmatched.

... Aren’t we on the mainland? Frey’s brow furrowed, gaze flickering to Pippin. Wow, he really wasn’t from around here. Nowhere close. Pippin mentions the mainland, something that Zevulun had spoken of before. Oh no. He’s been blown far off course, and Frey’s realization came quickly. That was… not good. “Come on Pippin, we should start walking.” Walk and talk. Frey was getting cold.

He would have to explain where they were? How would he even do it? Frey thinks for a moment before finally speaking. “This is the island of the Crossing, it’s the biggest one but there aren’t many herdlands on it. It’s only the Lagoon, where I live, and the Peak.” The colt is doing the best he can to explain, but he feels like he doesn’t have the right words. “There are four islands around this one, they each have four herdlands on them each. Mostly everyone lives out there.” He thinks he does a good enough job explaining it. Still, it seems that Pippin is far, far off course. Frey worries for him.
