you hesitated and I don't know why

She wanted him to die, preferably at her hooves where she could dance upon his corpse, but that dream was long off and he was unfortunately still here and breathing when she blinked again. Her smug face turns into a scowl the more she watches his body language, and his words that give way to nothing but more insults she wanted to rub his face into in retaliation. He wouldn't bend to her taunts, or give her anything more to go on, but the peacock reference seemed to get him enough that his words after that did nothing more than roll right off her back. Her smirk slips back across her lips, one she hides while letting him think he’d won for once by looking into the jungle where Oleander was supposed to be, but nothing other than darkness stares back at her instead of his beautiful gaze.

Unfortunately Annubis picks up on the lack of a child as well, his voice tearing into her as if wasn’t already aware of the new issue at hand. “Shut your mouth,” Hyacinth retorts, her eyes snapping back to the male as he searches the trees as well, and for the first time Hya willingly moves to him with purpose in her careful steps. “It’s your fault for scaring him,” she jabs her nose into his neck, ”Your fault for being so god damn annoying that even a foal couldn’t stand your ego trip,” she snarls into his ear, snaking her head forwards whilst he is distracted to grasp at his dark strands of hair and pull, aiming to keep a proper hold onto him and use her larger body to pull him with her towards the jungle, well at least as long as Annubis would allow her to do so; maybe he’d get distracted by her body willingly pressed against own for once.

Oleander’s scent was still fresh so surely the boy hadn’t wandered too far. The colt had managed to hang around like his mother wanted him to but then his attention was pulled by a fluttering butterfly and off he went whilst the adults were talking, thinking neither would notice.

“As soon as I find him we’re leaving,” Hyacinth tells Annubis this, dead set on leaving what she thought would be a beautiful place away from the lagoon.
