Your observations Peter, are quiet correct. As one who lives in SEAsia and contrary to popular belief, Vietnam (communist) is a very popular place amongst foreigners to live. Laos (communist) is also a pleasant and safe place to live, as is Thailand (military dictatorship), Burma )military dictatorship), Malaysia (entrenched Islamic "democracy") and Singapore (entrenched "family democracy"). The secret to a peaceful quite life in SEAsia is respect and keep out of politics.
