Does that one guy you know really need a cognitive recalibration that you just can't work into your busy schedule? Do you need advice from someone who's politically aware and dangerously genre savvy? Do you enjoy engaging in philosophical discussions with someone who'll probably find a way to judge you for your opinions with a smile on his face? Boy, do I have the opportunity for you!

A Lost Islands native, Garak has spent his life on the outskirts of island society, observing its day-to-day workings without involving himself directly. He comes fully kitted out with a rugged can-do attitude, a flawless veneer of good manners, a shockingly far-reaching sense of amorality, and absolutely no preexisting loyalty or attachment to any leader, family, or cause. Don't want to be friends? Cool! He probably doesn't either, but he'll act happy to see you anyway.

What can Garak do for you?

» Intimidate and punish characters by injuring them or someone they care about. Foals? Sure, they're easy! Pregnant mares? They're just larger, slower-moving targets!

» Spy on or mislead your enemies by ingratiating himself with them on your behalf.

» Raid from your enemies on your behalf, provided you deputize him first.

» Challenge characters' deeply-held beliefs just to keep them on their toes.

» Lie, cheat, steal, or kill as needed to accomplish his goals.

What won't Garak do for you?

» Force breed. Even he has standards, however hypocritical they seem in the moment.

» Own a territory or possess horses on his own. The only thing this guy loves more than seeing your devious plans succeed is his own autonomy. This is ultimately a good thing for you, because at least you know he's not going to try and take your stuff if he turns on you!

Still want to hang out with Garak, but find yourself lacking in the desire to employ his talents? No worries! As a lifelong resident of the Lost Islands, he also needs existing friends, enemies, and acquaintances with whom he has past encounters. An ideal friend would be someone who knows or suspects how he spends his time, knows or suspects he isn't telling them the whole truth, and can find it in their heart not to take it personally - because believe me, it's not personal. Would-be saints with an eye to reform his ways are welcome and even encouraged. Potential proteges, including youngsters acting against their parents' best interests, are also encouraged. Garak likes kids, he just doesn't want any of his own right now.
