I can't resist to relate one of my fine memories of Rifle Training at Greenbury Point. As you will recall we were ferried across the Chesapeake to the infamous Marine Rifle Range Training. One day , as we were marching to the dock for our transportation, led by the intrepid Jo Brende (WHO BY THE WAY HAD NOTICED THAT WE WERE NEVER GIVEN A "HALT" COMMAND AT THE END OF THE DOCK , BUT JUST MARCHED IN PLACE UNTIL GIVEN THE HALT COMMAND). That day he led the first three or so ranks off he end of the dock and into th River! The Marine in command went bonkers. We cooled off to the enjoyment of all!
