Re(1): The resignation of Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker for the murder of Officer Madrid-Evans

There’s not much info on Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker on the ‘net. I’m sure she wants it that way.

Baker has a BA from Columbia College, an MA from University of Missouri-Columbia, and a JD from UMKC. She is in her early 50s.

She served briefly in the Missouri House of Reps before being hired as an assistant prosecutor by Claire McCaskill. Baker has since served in nearly every unit of the office.

Baker has the right connections. She is a Democrat (of course), and she is the second female Jackson County Prosecutor, with Claire McCaskill being the first.

Baker was appointed Jackson County Prosecutor in May 2011 and was elected to the position in November 2012. Her current term expires in 2024.

A charter amendment for term limits for Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney was approved on November 6, 2018. Whether or not it will apply to Peters-Baker, I don’t know, because she was first elected before the amendment became law.
