Hoary Bats

While walking the North Simcoe Rail Trail this evening, after sunset, I had the good luck to see a large bat overhead following the trail westward above treetop level.
A minute later I saw one cross the trail, also above tree level, heading south. Both bats were travelling in a straight flight line. Probably migrating.
These two bats were the largest I have ever seen, with a wingspan of about thirty cm. They were considerably chunkier looking than a Red Bat.
