Not a coincidence they're mostly Republicans and in rural red states.
Local TV doesnt help them much with the important stuff, and I suspect in rural areas, it's harder to get vaccine when there's no corner drug store ten minutes away. And rural people mix in bars, the few stores, and church. And they know each other and are less likely to keep their distance and mask up around friends who turn out to be infected.
