Someone who was more interested in studying and learning about their counterparts may have picked up on the clues here in this conversation. They may have understood that though he lived on Tinuvel, Björn had come from Atlantis. More pieces of the puzzle that were these strangers could’ve been put together to better understand each of them. Talya, however, wasn’t paying as much attention as she should be. Once Björn told her it was nearly spring and he hadn’t expected to see her here, Talya giggled. “Huh, weird!”

As of Talya would know what weird was.

After she and Faolain exchanged breaths, Talya’s smile grew wide again. She was more than happy to tell the Ridge’s Queen how she’d met the stallion who’d come back to visit. “Oogie is gonna show me Tinuvel! I had to ask The Good Witch for permission because she controls my fate.” It was said very matter-of-fact, as though she only meant to fill Faolain in on the gaps, but wasn’t aware she could be making more.

It occurred to Talya, then, that the Good Witch no longer controlled her fate. Her eyes went wide and she looked from Björn to Faolain. A lightbulb may as well have went off over her head at the realization. “You control my fate now!” She pointed out, and looked at the pretty mare who led over this place, the Ridge, before her gaze turned hopeful. “I can still go with Oogie to see Tinuvel, right?” Oh, she would be so heartbroken if she couldn’t! She wanted to see it! “Please? I promise I’ll come back.” That’s what they were worried about, right? That’s why they wanted to make sure they knew where she was going and when, wasn’t it? Surely if Talya promised to return to the Ridge, she would still be allowed to go, especially considering Oogie and the Ridge Queen seemed to be on fairly good terms.
