PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Watching him recoil from her as if she'd struck him with a physical blow rather than a verbal one was confusing. On one hand, the part of her that was so infuriated by all of it (his smug expectation she'd simply understand this absurd scheme that he had, his cavalier attitude, his inability to let consider himself as worthy as she did) that the thought of him actually feeling her anger felt right.

But on the other hand, it was Iscariot.

And she'd do everything in her power to protect him.

The moment the last word falls from her mouth, her expression crumples. Not because her position has relented - she still firmly believes that his little child deserves to know and love Iscariot as their father - but because she can see that nothing of her argument has reached him. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the way he takes the easy way out, opting to prioritize her feelings over his own yet again. Instead of trying to make her understand he simply bows out, and walks away from her as she disintegrates into silent sobs.

I do, he'd claimed. And perhaps he did, somehow. Maybe he really did see this abandonment as a good thing for the child, even after watching her spend endless days staring at the shoreline for a glimpse of her own father. Maybe he did. But it wasn't enough.

And so instead of racing after him as she should have, she turned away, desperate to find relief in the burn of physical exercise, hoping that it would be enough to outweigh the guilt and hurt in her heart.
