She never really found much interest in Cain’s herd or his children. They were friendly, but nothing has stirred inspiration like this new mare has. The older silver hair Queen held fire in her eyes. She didn’t seem to care what family she pushes out so long as she had a home to rule. That part wasn’t as interesting as the fact she indeed was a female ruler. Besides the lead mare Melisma and the guardian Harlequin she hadn’t really known females to organize an entire herd. Cain was always the one bringing new herd members back (though it wasn’t often) and chasing off the foes. Now she would get to witness a female do all of that.
The heart of a trickster pumps her veins, but she does not have any plans to trick this new herd coming in. Not like she had messed with some of the last herd when she was smaller. At least not unless she finds she does not like them. For some reason Kara thinks she will be just fine staying in the Desert while a few others have fled. The things she wants to learn she could get from this mare. She could learn to defend herself and learn how to take what she desired. But there is always a price for such things. What will she lose in the process? The greying filly approaches the small group gathering just in time to hear Nyimara ask the other young mare what she could offer the herd.
She assumes the new Queen would want to know the same information from herself so she quickly answers the question even though it was not meant for her. “The only thing I have to offer is knowledge of this land and a willingness to learn.” She creeps up beside the other young mare, who looks around her own age, and stares at the new Queen. Hazel eyes study her reaction and await her response. Would she be enough?
