It turned out that having a title didn't actually change her life that much. It did not change the complicated swirl of emotions in her chest, nor did it soothe the hurting, but it did at least renew her purpose. With the backing of most of her sisters, she knew that she could no longer continue to be complacent. Talking to the Lagoon and promising to bring about change was only one thing out of thousands that she could be doing, and she could feel the need to make a mark on the islands of her own growing stronger.
She was no longer a girl, and it was time that the world see the woman she was becoming.
Róisín had taken to pacing the perimeter of Peak on occasion, both to familiarize herself with the lower stretches of land where she and Iscariot had not yet travelled, and to check for any intruders. With Oswin's secondhand testimony from Solomon of the war that he feared, Rói didn't want to take any chances with the safety of her sisters, companions or children. Each life here was far too precious to be lost in a scuffle between two stallions.
A call ahead of her draws her attention and she deviates inland to find the source of it. The voice was faintly familiar, but it wasn't until she saw Lorcan's familiar white figure that she was able to place it. Immediately, the dun mare lifted her head and nickered to him in greeting. He had been a presence in her life since she was fairly young, and even though they shared no blood relation, she considered him to be basically family. Siobhan had been more than happy to watch over Ysabel's son alongside her own growing brood of children, and Róisín had been equally as glad to boss him around the same way she had all of her other younger siblings.
Hades and Finch had already humored her with a visit to the Peak, and she was immediately delighted at the chance to show Lorcan the beauty of her new home as well. A part of her would always miss the jungles and waterfalls and colors of her beloved Ridge, but she couldn't deny that the Peak had slowly begun to grow on her. Without the trappings of the jungle to soften the sharp edges of rock, the land left little to the imagination, but in that there was a different kind of beauty.
"Lorcan!" Rói called out brightly as she picked her way closer. She considered calling out for Iscariot, knowing that he might enjoy seeing Lorcan again too, but she held off for just a moment. Hopefully he had heard Lorcan's call and would join them soon so that they could all reminisce about their childhood shenanigans in the Ridge.
"I didn't expect to see you here!" She says warmly as she halts before him, habitually extending her muzzle for an exchange of breaths if he was inclined. And then, oblivious to the upheaval in their childhood home, she surged onward. "How is everyone?"
