It’s very difficult to let go of something you love - something you poured your entire heart into - and something you know you’ll never get back.
For 11 years, I was the nationwide host of “Round Trip With Dave O” playing nothing but 90s music across the USA (on 93.3 here in KC each Sunday from 7-9 PM).
At our peak, 23 radio stations would play this show each weekend.
However, the radio industry has decided that 90’s music isn’t what people want to hear and that it “doesn’t test well.” Despite our efforts to wait this out and convince stations of otherwise, the prevailing feeling isn’t going away. So I have decided to end the show, effective 12/25. That means four episodes remain.
I want to thank my good friend and Producer Dan Holliday for believing in me as a host and giving me this opportunity in the first place. You just don’t find hosts from Kansas City doing music shows around the USA and that’s something I’m proud of, but mainly owe to him.
To the more than seventy 90’s bands and artists I interviewed - THANK YOU. You were the true stars of the show.
To the millions of people across the USA who heard this show and maybe called or emailed in - THANK YOU.
I walk away from this project humbled and a little hurt - but more so, just grateful I was given this opportunity.
May the 90’s pop music always live on in our souls and memories.
