Official Statement: The Jackson County Legislature is voting on Monday to reinstate the COVID mask mandate. This is in substantial violation of state law and shall not be allowed to proceed. We do not need more unneeded mask mandates. COVID is not going anywhere and we cannot be issuing mandates and taking them away every few weeks. We also cannot allow power hungry politicians to force mask wearing for years with no end in sight. This is not about public safety. This is about government control. Masks and vaccines should be up to each individual person on what they choose to do. Not your elected officials. I stand by members of our Blue Springs City Council in opposition of this mandate and government overreach by this county, yet again.
Our City Council will be holding a special session on Monday December 13th at 5:00pm to vote on a resolution. I have been in constant contact with Councilmember Chris Lievsay and Councilmember Jerry Kaylor in regards to this matter and fully support taking action against Jackson County.
