But I have to rain on your parade. Trump is not at fault for Tzar Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
here's an interesting podcast explaining that Russians think differently that we in the west do. Some of the experts say Ukraine was never much of a country for centuries, but rather historically was fought-over land with fluid borders until after Russian Communist Revolution of 1917. THE Russians modernized esource-rich Ukraine Russia's brother Republic in the USSR. Gave em nukes, even the leaked Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and lots of Communist farms and factories.
Half of the Ukrainians speak Russian, have family in Russia, and remember that Russia was very generous to them, bring them technology and order. People had it better under the USSR than they do now on their own.
It's the YOUNG people who dont' remember Mother Russia who want the western notion of freedom, and are fighting the invaders.
the old KGB head, PUtin wants to reconstitute the USSR and he no doubt has LOTS of support from Russians who want their 20th century greatness again.
Russia was never as bad as western media painted them; in fact the west really wasn't allowed into that gray but relatively heavy-handed country after killer Stalin died.
Russia, like Ukraine, is ruled by crooked oligarchs...and they're not that much different that our corporatist billionaires!!
So while the west wants to do EVERYTHING to keep Russia from being a major power it was when we were young, we can't do much to them. Putin has billions in the bank and we have deficit debts, paper held by the Chinese. The thinkers think the sactions may not hurt Russia that much...for they've been an isolated nation for decades and have nothing to sell the world but oil, gas, and weaponry. Europe depends on it to stay warm, and we still import lots of Russian oil!
Putins doing what HE thinks is best for RUSSIA...which is what all leaders do. We just don't agree with his plans and he's not a dictator of good intent to the west at all.
Do ya think Trump would have been any better, if he'd had a free hand? Not likely. No wonder Trump likes Putin. Trump wishes HE was America's dictator!
Jeez, no sooner did we get Trump out of there and a vaccine for Covid, well now the Cold War's back. Jeezus freakin Christ!
BTW, my air name when I did my American FOrces Radio top40 show every evening 1969-71 was "Lord Byron of Stratcom."
Stratcom was the Army's worldwide communications command; today that abbreviation has to do with our Strategic Command of nuclear weapons...but in those days it was Strategic Communications, not nukes.
Think of it like the worldwide Internet teletype message system before the Internet was founded by Al Gore in the early 90s. Beat the shit out of carrying a Prick-25 field radio in Vietnam, fer sure! I called myself a "ChAirborne Ranger" when I wasn't doing my radio show.
It was fun as the military is for everyone not stuck in Greenland or carrying a rifle on the ground. Anybody else in here a vet?
