Nicely put, and a common problem, though a $5k bonus isn't a raise, its to cover RELOCATION COSTS, which current employees don't face. Most people have contracts to buy out, moving expenses, daycare, moving hassles, spouse relocation, etc.
Don't look at a hiring bonus as a raise, its not. Replies: There have been no replies.
