Good line in a movie but ya dont' say that to someone who has more subs and mobile launchers and supermegatonage that we do.
They have yeilds that could take out a third of the Chicago metro! THey're called 'citybusters.' We had em too, 18 silos surrounding Wichita and Little Rock and someplace in AZ..our liquod fueled Titan II's. I got a chance to go down into the hole of one with a cameraman while Norad sent em a test msg for us to take and watch em fake turn keys.
It was just like that kid movie, War Games, made in 1983. The Day After, about an attack on Lawrence was that same year. And the other big one, centered in and followed a hit on big Shefield england in 84...following the starving and cold population for thirty years. It ws far more grim than all of the others put together.
I got my tour in 1980 when I covered the military in Wichita. Bout that time, they actually gave me 9 minutes to do one story on the news, called "Target Wichita." At that time it was home of the 18 missiles, the KC135 bomber refuellers and Boeing Military Airplane Company that maintained our B-52s and designed their underwing cruise missile pylons.
The long and short of the story was, despite civil defense evacuation plans, if it had happened, best thing Wichitans could when the temperature hit 10,000 degrees in South Wichita is to pour a glass of Iced tea, grab a lawn chair and go outside and wait for the light show!
My opinion is we're closer to that than we were then because Putin's 70, I think no kids, he's a killer with no remorse, and has made the most desperate move of his Russian career in Ukraine. As of now, he's not winning and most Russians not in Ukraine don't know that. Replies: There have been no replies.
