Hi all! After hearing a couple common questions recently, I just wanted to post a quick reminder for everyone about the rules and etiquette regarding “post comings”.
Post comings can be used to reserve a place in a thread temporarily, often used in areas like the Common where threads are usually responded to quickly. This helps to avoid double posting or someone jumping in ahead of you before you can finish your post. There may be no more than three post comings in a row in a single thread (and the same time limit applies to all of these), and they are not allowed in event threads, such as disasters, escapes or raids.
Post comings are active for a time limit of 6 hours from when they are posted, measured in board time, therefore they should only be used in situations when you are either actively working on a post, or when you know you will be able to work on a post in the next few hours. After this time, other players are free to post ahead in order to avoid delays to the thread and to allow others who are ready to post the chance to participate.
These rules help us to keep threads open and moving for everyone involved, while still offering a chance for busy players to work on their replies without fear of interruption. I hope you will all agree that this benefits us all, so please remember to use them conscientiously and do not be afraid to post ahead of expired post comings if you are ready, able and excited to post.
