warning signs like butterflies

i am under no obligation
to make sense to you

Kohelet's wide gaze rested on Fell's face, worriedly studying every shape and line for any shift in mood or concern. The strangled sound he'd made as her father left had seemed to require more effort from him, and she thought she had detected a flicker of pain on his face when he'd made it. Beyond their first interaction, Kohelet had not pressed him for the speech he could clearly not make, and it made her wonder what he had wanted to say to her father so badly that he would hurt himself to try.

She did not turn back to her father, and did not know that the tobiano King had paused in his retreat to eye Fell curiously for a moment after the outburst. Nor would she know that Solomon nodded in answer, but continued on in his journey home. Kohelet's eyes were only for Fell, and as he tucked her in close to him again, she sighed in relief and smiled against the inky blackness of his coat. It was as good an answer as any that he might have offered with words and she was relieved to know that she was forgiven if forgiveness had even been required.

Emboldened by this reassurance, she lipped at his muscled chest for a moment, deliciously recalling the last time they'd cuddled. Everything that had transpired that day had been new to her, and each experience had been fraught with that tenuous feeling of having no idea what would come next. Now, having spent the better part of a few days exploring this new avenue with Fell, Kohelet very much knew what to expect, and had come to the realization that she very much enjoyed the time she spent with her new partner.

"Will you show me your favorite place?" Her voice was a soft murmur as she resumed trailing her lips up his chest until finally pulling away to peer up at him to see if he'd heard her. Their... activities hadn't exactly led to the sort of land-exploring that would allow her to familiarize herself with her new home, but had Fell had a mind to quiz her about what she'd learned about him... well, she might have a passing grade there.

"I want to know my new home." As if calling the Bay her home really drove home the point of her new circumstances, Kohelet's soft smile broadened and she drew in a steadying breath, ready to take her first step into her own happily ever after.
