You’re not Salinger. Get over it.

To her credit, the mare had some fire in her belly. Frey preferred that, after all. This was no damsel in distress, but it didn’t mean that his job was any different. The whole deal between the Peak and the Lagoon struck as it was, Frey would take it upon himself to rain on the parade of whatever wayward boy tried to make a splash out here.

She laughs. A good sign? Could be. Could not be. Really, could go either way, but Frey wasn’t so sure that he cared as much. Neither of them speak, and Frey’s ears swivel backward as he’s met with relative silence. Tough crowd today, apparently. Still, how can anyone think that the Lagoon is full of monsters with creatures like this asshole roving the Islands? Clearly, he had no manners. That was the only explanation.

“No manners to speak of, okay.” Frey rolls his eyes and gives a shallow, humorless laugh as the stallion comes at him. A step to the side, a toss of his head. This stranger made to bite him, which was laughable at best. Sure, he could be all flash and salt. His neck arched elegantly, Frey drove forward without a second thought. The same way that he’d learned against the Lagoon’s boss, this man would too, learn. Gaze burning, teeth flashing in the sunlight. In an instant, his posture shifts. Frey would do his best to look as large as possible– being that he wasn’t small to begin with, it makes for an even more imposing silhouette.

If the boy wanted to play, Frey supposed that they could play.
