Re(1): News readers enunciation

Their should be but I expect News Directors are just a 'most senior' anchor who pulls his own shift and doesn't really supervise much on a small staff. HB was once a giant but that ws long ago, and even then the peedee pulled an airshift and there were not more than two news readers, one doing mornings, and the other afternoons, with no field staff, no tape recorders, no news cars, no two way radios. Even BZ with dual anchors in the morning and one producer/writer for that gruiling shift demonstrates that in a market like this one, they put forth the IMAGE of news but not much if any enterprising and when there was, they made it such a big deal because enerprising a multipart news series isn't really done except at ratings time.

Its been decades since any radio actually had a public service commitment. They can call themselves News Radio all they want but you can't cover a metro this size with one field reporter and all the rest is rewritten out of the paper, or UPI or handout PR news off the interagency police wire. Thats when I got out... there was nothing there but smoke and mirrors and that's not journalism at all. That's announcing.

You think pronounciation sucks here, go to a small market. or worse isten to diction exercises on NPR, where the engineers have cranked up the treble so high that S's crack windshields!
