ori
Ori chuckled at Isla’s apparent return to reality from whatever daydream she had run off to for that instant. Mm? she said, catching up again quickly, and Ori’s smile broadened. He suspected they might have similar activities in mind that were making it difficult to pay attention, but the little pink mare was giving it her best shot, so Ori did as well.
He listened with determination as she explained that she was here for family on Luthien, a name he did not recognize, but gathered enough from her short speech to understand that it was Not Here. He cocked his head with interest, both curious and disappointed that Isla had plans that would take her somewhere away from here. When she casually tossed another compliment toward him, Ori ducked his head bashfully, flattered. “Ahh, I think I’m a bit too soft in a few places to be particularly enjoyable as a meal,” he joked along with her. Before he could really stop himself, he continued, “but you look like the perfect snack for me.”
Unsure if he should backpedal, but aware that it was far too late to do so either way, Ori blushed and gave her a guilty smile. “I wouldn’t bite unless you want me to, though,” he added, as though that could possibly make it better. Laughing nervously, he accepted her change of subject, although he didn’t have a straight answer to her question.
“Well, I’ve got terrible wanderlust, and I wanted to explore someplace new,” he admitted, which was the truth, just drastically simplified. “I’d heard stories of this place, not much, but I had nowhere else in mind that seemed interesting enough to check out. So, here I am.” At this, he smiled sheepishly, gesturing to the trees around them. “I might even brave the appetite of your mother just to go see Luthien, wherever that is.”
