Leonard Nimoy

Today’s “Columbo” episode was “A Stitch In Time” (1973), with Leonard Nimoy playing the part of a bad guy. I can’t recall seeing Nimoy ever play anything other than Spock before, but he did a good job on this. I didn’t catch myself thinking of Spock, all the time.

”Star Trek” was on TV for three seasons (1966–69) prior to Nimoy’s Columbo appearance, so he was known to viewers, but I think it would have qualified as a “cult” favorite at that time. It didn’t really “take off” until the first installment of the Star Trek series was released in December, 1979.
