Instantly Jabari felt as if he was intruding on something a bit more intimate than he had realized. The way the grey stallion watched over the mare suggested a stronger connection that Jabari clearly must have misread. He stood awkwardly at his distance now, one brown ear lobe flicking forward when the stud, Fritjof, announced he was here for neither of the two names Jabari had presented.
The painted stallion nodded nonetheless, at Fritjof's introduction. His blue-eyed gaze studied him under the moonlight. He was a strongly-built stallion, it seemed, and young. Thus far he was friendly enough. The mare, Charybdis, on the other hand, was quite exotic. Jabari found himself taken aback by the nodes of her speech - her accent so foreign and alluring to hear the first time. For a second, Jabari understood why Fritjof might be reluctant to share her company with him.
She speaks as if she knows both iterations of past Ridge leadership, and Jabari is grateful for the conversation to remain on this topic. He nods his head again, confirming Hades' departure. "I'm not exactly sure when or why, but one day he and his family just never returned." Jabari confessed in a matter-of-fact sort of way, his brown tail twitching back and forth over his haunches.
She introduces herself, and Jabari offers her a short-lived smile over his pink, whiskered lips. Quizzically, his ears flick back and forth when she says she will wait for Faolain. It didn't seem clear to Jabari that the dark mare had any intention of returning to her former home.
"I'm Jabari." He said next, his gaze bouncing from one of them to the next. He hesitated, wondering if he should offer more. The usual 'son of Shamwari of the Prairie' title echoing in his head. But his lips remained shut.
Obediently, he turned to follow after Charybdis, his nostrils flaring as he took in the quickly blustering humid air. A storm was coming, indeed.
