hirkaback

Hirka was doing her best to be aware of her surroundings. But the mare was so wrapped up in her head, that when she broke through the vegetation and the stallion was suddenly there, fear took president over everything. Letting out a short, quiet squeal; Hirka scrambled back a few steps until her brain finally caught up with her body. As her heart thundered in her chest, her blue eyes took in the large male before her. Hirka had never seen another horse of his stature before, so in her mind, he looked massive.

“I’m so sorry.” She blurted out, her words stumbling over the top of his. Heat had already blossomed on her cheeks, but as she spoke over him, Hirka felt engulfed by the flames beneath her skin. Not only did she look foolish by her startlement, now she seemed rude too. How completely embarrassing! Ears cast out the side now, a sheepish look colored her face as she straightened her posture. “I’m sorry.” She said again, quieter this time, and hoping that she didn’t interrupt him a second time.

It took the young mare a few minutes to realize he had asked her a question, and she had failed to answer him. “Oh… um…” she started, her weight shifting to show her unease. Never put in a situation like this, Hirka felt anxiety knotting in her stomach. A feeling most young mares might get, if not overly confident in themselves, when faced with the first horse they had ever seen outside their herd. “I had never been to Paradise before. I wanted to see what it was like, and introduce myself. Seems I’ve sort of screwed up my introduction though.” Hirka said, giving a small embarrassed smile. “My name is Hirka, I’m from the Shore.”
