in the deafening silence;

what's a king
to a god?

Rehoboam was surprised to see fear on the other stallion's face but kept his own expression neutral. He didn't intend to harm him, but he could understand being anxious about a new setting and a stranger. To further convey his peaceful intentions, Reh cocked a hip to rest one hind foot and listened to the other stallion's answer.

Rehoboam had never heard of anything called the Shipwrecked Islands, but he supposed there was a lot about the Mainland and beyond that he had never really considered, much less experienced. From the way that it was spoken of, and because of the fact that so many seemed to be running from some facet of their past, Rehboam had never had a desire to go see for himself.

It was promising to hear that the stallion was looking for a home. The Lagoon needed more members, and even if this stranger didn't stay long, he could perhaps help in Rehoboam's ongoing quest to improve the Lagoon's reputation. "Welcome to the Lost Islands then, Hali'a. I'm Rehoboam, of the Lagoon." Reh greeted, his lips curving into a grin. He turned he gaze outward toward the landmass on which they stood and decided to offer a little more context for the names he'd given. "We're on the main Crossing isle right now, but there are four major islands around this one where various herds live."

He nodded toward the north where the spires of the Peak jutted up against the sky next. "There are two herds on this island - the Peak to the North, is mares only." This was a rather large oversimplification of the intricacies of Peak dynamics, but a solid enough explanation to offer a newcomer. "And the Lagoon, to the south, is the stallion's equivalent. It's where I'm from."

Claiming belonging to the Lagoon over Tinuvel still felt strange to the tobiano stallion even though he'd been doing it for years now. Flicking his tail, he leveled his gaze back at the stranger. "I'm the Lagoon's Marauder, which is really just a fancy title for being the one to find new members for our herd." Again, a rather large oversimplification, but it was the conclusion that Rehoboam had reached as far as his position. If the Lagoon really was going to repair its reputation, they could hardly be stealing members from other herds like the old ways. "Why don't you come with me, and see if it's something you might be interested in? You can leave if not, but it's a good place to get an understanding of the islands and their oddities."
