Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

in the deafening silence;

what's a king
to a god?

Despite living in the Lagoon for years now, Rehoboam had yet to make any true friendships among the bachelors. In the beginning, he had believed that it was because he had planned for his stay here to be only temporary and that friends would only make his eventual departure harder. As time passed, however, Rehoboam had learned more of himself and of what he was both capable of and willing to tolerate. While the Lagoon might not be his forever home (as no one could tell what chaos the future would bring), he was now certain that he held no interest in running his own herd. The thought of being beholden to the men here was stressful enough, let alone a bevy of needy children and jealous mares.

Tyr was perhaps the closest thing the tobiano could claim as a friend; even that was drawing a connection that was likely unreciprocated. He waited patiently for the answer to his question, opting to cock his own hip and settle in for at least a brief conversation.

No. The denial twisted Reh's lips into a frown and he turned his gaze back to the spotted stallion in question with a brow cocked. Thankfully, Tyr explained without further prompting and the tobiano found himself nodding along. What Tyr had said made sense. The Marauder hadn't been oblivious to the negative reaction two bachelors were likely to get, but he had forgotten to take into account the impending season change as well. If one bachelor had been met with pinned ears and vitriol on Salem, he could only imagine what reaction two would get.

"That's a good point," Reh murmured with a small nod. He couldn't claim to know Vadim well, but he had begun to take more notice of the boy after the messy Commons altercation. From what little he knew of the excitable young colt, he was well behaved and eager to learn, which was an ideal combination and a far cry from his older brother. The tobiano was still salty about the way that Frey had (and was continuing to handle) his little sister's safety, and had found no shortage of things to complain about in the way the young red stallion behaved in other areas too. Vadim, at least, showed promise in caring what the opinion of others was, and therefore was already a better brother in Rehoboam's eyes than Frey would ever be.

Reh's tail flicked idly over his hocks as he mulled over what Tyr had said before nodding in acceptance of his suggestion. "Are you sure he would be up for it?" Atlantis was arguably the shortest swim distance of the various islands, but it was still a swim and Reh admittedly didn't know the boy well enough to know whether he'd already trekked off-island or not.

"Do you have any friends on the island I should look for?" There was no judgment in the Marauder's tone, nor was there any real expectation of an affirmative answer. The Lagoon had borne the judgment of their past sins for so long that it wasn't likely that anyone on the islands had formed a positive opinion of them.

Then again, Tyr did have a bevy of children with him at all times. Surely he had to have wooed someone somewhere that might prove advantageous to them.
