naamah liked to pride herself on very few things: her coat was gleaming and spotless, her mane and tail were never tangled, and she had the best resting bitch face of any of her family. she would have thought that would be enough to deter anyone from approaching her, really, but the chestnut mare didn't seem to mind. she wasn't about to send her away either. naamah may have been practicing a perfectly poised calloused expression, but when the girl spoke she relaxed. she was new, probably a bit frightened, and just looking for her way in the world.

before she could reply to her, however, there is a striped stallion that interrupts them. she watches him with a pointed interest, her gaze turning from friendly to icy. "he's right. you're in the commons," her tone does not pick up any warmth, either. "it's where the homeless find homes."

when she turns back to the stallion she pins her ears back delicately, the glimpse of a grin on her pink lips. she circles him slowly while her neck snakes out to try and place a bite on his shoulder, to drive him away from her and the other mare. but the fates must have had a better plan, because she was met instead by a sooty roaned stallion. mischief sparkled in the corner of his eyes as he approached the trio.

she focuses on rafe, that sweet ghost of a smile still lingering, before she replies. "i might need a refresher."
