Summer In The City

A little past 9 this morning, I heard what sounded like a fireworks firecracker, near my house. My lights, radio and overhead fan went off right away, so I knew it was a powerline popping.

Do you know how many things we use in the morning at home that require electricity? Try lights, alarm clock, radio, a/c and fan, TV, internet (Spectrum), microwave oven, land-line phone and answering machine, for a start.

I found receipts from Spectrum and Evergy to get their phone numbers, grabbed my cell-phone and called them. I got their standard recorded messages, telling me they were working on my problems, and my lights came back on in about 15 minutes.

That’s GREAT, because (a) I’ve got a boatload of things to do today that require electricity, and (b) it’s already 83 degrees, with a forecast high of 101.
