PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

'Tis not the length of life,
but the depth

"Oh, yes!" Reef agrees readily, stepping forward as the pale mare makes room for her on the path. She divides her attention evenly between Oswin and Filumena, nodding in understanding as the mare explains her use of the term "sisters" and smiling warmly at the yearling who bounces excitedly near her mother's hip. "I've been small all my life," she chuckles. "It'll be nice to feel tall for a change! Lead on, little lady," Reef gestures for Filumena to take point, feeling that three horses abreast will be crowded, and falls into step with Oswin as they make their way up the mountain.

"How good to hear mares can come and go as they please," she says, picking up the thread of conversation even as her head turns attentively toward each new mark in the landscape. No tree goes unnoticed, nor bush ignored, and the boulders littering the side of the trail likewise earn a glance and, sometimes, an appreciative nod and low snort from the roan mare. This land, too, is unlike anywhere else she has yet set foot on the Islands, and Reef wants to memorize its every nuance. "A traditional life can be a good life, but it's not for everybody, and no one should be forced to it. I'd fade away to something less than seafoam if I had to stay put in one place for too long. No roots for me, thank you, unless they let me range far enough to go everywhere." She shudders her coat, exaggerating the motion for emphasis before she adds, "Luckily I get to roll around wherever the wind takes me." Reef lifts her head and addresses Filumena, asking, "What do you think, little lady? Would you rather be a tumbleweed, or a tree?"

Reef is happy, and it shows in the cant of her head and the brightness of her eyes as she surveys the new terrain. It seems the higher they climb, the more the land changes, becoming noticeably rockier and more hilly on either side of the path. There is a pleasant burning in her muscles and lungs as she works harder to compensate for the incline, subtle though it is. "What of you?" she asks Oswin, flicking one ear toward her blanketed companion. There is no judgment in her voice, only curiosity as she continues, "Does a settled life appeal to you, tucked in cozily among your herd and your family? Or is there a bit of wanderlust in your hooves, too?"
