Cairn didn't actually have a heart, but the heart of a wanderer sat within his breast all the same. It was not at all unusual for him to cover large stretches of land in a single day. He didn't require sleep, and while he did grow weary and tired, he did not need to rest in the same way a real horse would. A fact that he understood and did not mind. While he did enjoy the occasional rest in the thickets of his home, remaining stagnant for too long was frightfully boring for him.
Even now he moved with surprising purpose despite his size and stature. Cairn remained slightly uneasy still, despite his excitement for discovering new things. He still didn't understand how he actually came to be here. There was a comfort in always knowing he could return to the safety of his broken temple.
The pines were familiar and yet...not. They brushed his sides as he wandered, occasionally snagging on a jagged edge or crack in his body. It did not bother him, however. Swiveling ears caught the sound of another-- it seemed he was not as alone as he thought. He halted, watching the newcomer for a few moments. The other seemed irritated if his twitching tail was any indication, though the statue could understand such an emotion. He stepped forward, almost timidly, lowering his head to dodge a heavy branch.
”Gods—where did you even come from?”
Cairn freezes. Statue still.
For several moments that seemed to stretch on for eternity he doesn't move. Not even a twitch of a nostril or an ear. His expression is blank, as if the god-given grace had suddenly dissipated and left him the shell he once was.
"The temple of the lost god." Not quite the answer the other stallion was most likely looking for. But for Cairn it was an accurate and acceptable answer to the question. He tilted his head slightly to one side, stone lids briefly closing over moss covered eyes. "Cairn." He offered his name, giving no indication that's what it was however.
