Hope you're not in here trying to make friends, thats not much of a good impression.
If ya got a yard needs good rain, or kids to take to the park, or outside construction jobs or farming needing good weather, etc, weather reports are VERY important.
If you don't, ya can probably never even need to turn on local news. Cut the guy some slack. I too think once the weathercast is done, we dont need two more to fill time between commercials.
TV news is horrible because owners just want to squeeze the most income for the least investment...and so news opns give more an ILLUSION of coverage than actually delivering what they could if they wanted.
The trouble is, those who built the local stations have sold out to uninterested, but profit oriented ownership. Ain't just TV, its everything! Today, value is very hard to find! And people who get into news, do so with pride and motivation to provide that value to their communities.
I didn't get into it to fill newscasts, I got into it to practice the kind of journalism I was taught how to do. It's depressing when you join an outfit and they start cutting staff and make those of us left just pedal faster to fill the time!
I know I speak for everyone who has invested in decades in the industry doing their best. Replies:
