Charybdis steps nearer still, slow and steady, with the intent of making conversation a little easier. She stops, still maintaining a small distance, leaving it up to her mystified companion to decide whether to move to meet her, or remain as she was. "You know me." The words roll from the part-blind augur’s tongue, warm and resonant, in response to the name with which she’d been named. A smile unfurls across her lips, thinning towards the edges, like ripples smoothing on the surface of still water.

"I come for de same," she answers in her own voice, and then an echo. "Of a sort." Eyes half closing, she tilts her head and tips a hind hoof, settling in upon the bank of the freshwater pool. "Peace for de mind of me. I seek guidance. Find it in de whisper of de water." She falls silent then, perhaps to listen, perhaps to observe. In all her years, she has come across many. None readily come to mind who’ve outright called her mad, whether out of politeness, or the fear of risking seeing just how deeply her madness ran. But she has found precious few who understand her, and only these will ever truly know her.

Charybdis cannot help but feel a little curious about the roan creature before her, the heart of her softened by the respectful manner of her companion that is already evident. "De waterfall, ‘er sound different to de rivers of de Ridge, different from de ocean dat draw all life to dese little islands we call ‘ome." It is a test, of sorts, not with intent to judge, so much as a way for Charybdis to determine how much of herself she can reveal. Purposefully, the white mare turns away, angling herself back toward the Falls upstream. She twists her head about, ears quivering, ready to catch any sound the mare might make, and again her eyes close, and she asks another question. "Can you ‘ear ‘er singing?"
