Rules

� The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

� Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

� All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

� Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

� You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Gavriel noticed the brief look of surprise which is then followed with acknowledging that she knew of their father. He found it interesting how Vesna was not the first to seek shelter in the Peak (and probably not the last.) And how his reputation would have many of their siblings seeking the safety of the Peak. He offered a smile at her words, in hopes that he could keep the good relationship with the Peak intact.

"We are both grateful that you would offer me a place, and I will do my best to learn the ways of the Peak," Vesna offered. Deep down she was afraid. Afraid that she would not hold up her end of the deal. Afraid that she would fail and be sent away from the Peak. She drew a breath across her whiskered lips.

Gavriel gently bumped his sister's shoulder. Everything had been so hard for so long - first leaving the Islands, their capture, and now a new home. His touch remained on her shoulder a moment longer before he withdrew and refocused on Roisin as she assured him that Vesna would be safe. "Thank you," his words are sincere and a genuine smile touched his lips. He was grateful for her kindness. For too long he has been under the thumb of a cruel, manipulative captor - each day he was beaten and abused. He almost forgot what kindness felt like.

They both nodded gently as she volunteered to leave them to say their goodbyes. "We will only be a moment," Vesna painfully whispered as the emotion once more weighed heavily in her throat. She cleared her throat as she watched Roisin step away. Vesna turned her dark head to meet her brother's hazel gaze. Tears brimmed at her eyes as she gently pressed her forehead into his cheek. "I'll be okay Gav," she fondly whispered to her sibling... to her protector. Their bond had been forged in the fire's of their torment.

"I know..." he whispered as he wrapped his neck beneath her head and embraced her. "I love you V," he whispered, the emotion thick in his voice. He held her for a moment longer before they pulled apart and he stepped away from her. His heart thundered against his ribs. "Keep moving Gav." he reminded himself, afraid that if he stopped now he would never start his journey to the Cove.

Vesna watched him until the sound of his hooves across the stones fade and his shadow no longer touched the mountain's side. Tears brimmed at her eyes and then spilled onto her cheeks. With another sniffle, she shifted her gaze toward Roisin who lingered a little ways away. She drew a breath across her lips and then stepped to join her.

Today, she opened a new chapter.
