It isn't until Róisín cocks her head back to tell the mare she's free to make her choice that she spares her really any attention at all.... And then immediately recognizes her mistake. Well, mistake is probably too strong of a word considering that bullying Sig brought a little bit of it's own satisfaction, but it was fairly obvious that she hadn't been necessary in this interaction at all.

Great.

Her glare snaps back to Sigurdr as he pouted, but she remains resolutely in place, her jaw clamped together as she tried to wrangle her emotions. On one hand, she was desperately glad to see him again, and eager to ask a million questions about his trip, and their da, and if her mother had ever made it home... and on the other, she wanted to tear him apart for daring to try and force a mare beneath her nose. She was supposed to be the bratty little sibling, not the other way around.

"She's not going to the Lagoon," the little dun snapped at Sig's flippant claims. Roi would rather force the mare to the Peak until she regained her senses (her own morals be damned) over letting another mare be willingly bamboozled by the Lagoonies. There would be no more Oswin's. No more Djuna's. No more Bane's.

"And you always have a choice," she said irritatedly as she turned to look at the sassy bay mare. If there was one thing the little dun had learned the hard way in her life, it was that there was always a choice. Sometimes it was a shitty choice, restricted to deciding how you were going to cope with life's latest tragedy, but often times there were more options than the obvious if you just sat back and really looked at your position.

Róisín could never claim to be a good judge of character, but from the mare's behavior so far, it would seem that she was used to getting her way. She, unlike the unkempt little dun, was probably pretty enough for it, but Rói tried not to take that to heart. "You can go with my idiot brother, if you don't mind his asinine behavior. Or there's the Peak, with me. Or, for all I care, you can spin in a pretty little circle and see if you can drum up someone else if you're desperate for more attention."

She turned her attention back on Sigurdr, and had to hide the flicker of a grin. She loved him so much, but he was so freaking irritating sometimes. Lashing the strands of her dark tail against her haunches, she leveled a glare at him that was half as intimidating as she had intended it to be. "Now that my point has been made, I'm going home. Flirt, argue, whatever. Just keep your teeth to yourself until you know for sure she's going to like it, dingus."

With that, she took a step back, indicating she was about to leave unless anyone stopped her. A strange expression crossed her face and she turned back to Sig one last time, and issued one last request with homesickness twisting every word that left her lips. "And come visit me sometime, yeah?"

i'm trying to be brave, because when i'm brave
other people feel brave, but i feel like my heart
is caving in
