Cross my heart and hope to die…welcome to my darkside.

Enya

Light azure eyes illuminated ever so slightly at the woman's smile, it was refreshing and her words perked her ears forward. It is her next word that caused an ear to flick ever so slightly to the side and forward one more. Her response was more akin to confusion and even curiosity than negative emotion. A slight nod of her muzzle was all she offered content to let the woman speak of what she had on her mind. A pale hoof idly scraped at the soft dying grass shoots as Enya's gaze searches to meet that of the red mare.

The pale mare considered her question for a moment, to be fair she hadn't really had many rules, to begin with. "I suppose it could be considered the normal ones most herds have around here. Respect the leaders. Don't get overly involved with those who choose to be enemies of the Shore. Protect our own. Admittedly I find no reason to be exceptionally restricting. My goal is to build a large family that can get into trouble and still has each other's backs. I will be the first to admit I am not above the politics of the isles but I aspire to put my herd first and protect them to the best of my abilities." She spoke in truth and yet she couldn't quite hide the pain in her eyes nor her features as her head dipped slightly. "I lost my family once, call it an act of the divine or curse of the fates...but I am keen to do things right...if for nothing but their memory, their honor." She thought of them, leaving an ache that radiated through her body. While her companions kept her attention and even affection she could never forget completely forget the family she once held.

Shaking her mane out and lifting her head once more. "I won't promise you the world. I can't say that nothing bad will ever happen. I can't even promise that I am good. What I can tell you is that I will do everything I can to make sure you and your young ones are safe or at least will put up one hell of a fight to do so. This land is cruel, but I am not afraid to be the bad guy when I have to be...especially when it is for the best interest of my family." Icy blue orbs searched the woman's features, perhaps she had said too much, but she wasn't going to lie to Isla. Every other herd leader was bound to the laws and politics of the isle and she doubted many grew their herd from softness and warmth with every mare and stallion they met. She wasn't certain she was the lesser of the evils that prowled around, but she was making an effort to be open and honest.

Shifting her weight slightly she mulled over her speech for a little longer than was likely necessary before speaking again. "I suppose if I haven't scared you off with such...a passionate speech, I would be delighted to lead you to the shore." Rolling her right shoulder slightly and shifting her neck and head along the same path. Casting a gaze back she tilted her head at the pair, "What is the worst I could do? Summon the fish to bite your legs & tail?" Enya jested more for the sake of the lad than Isla but it held some truth. She had no intention to use them as pawns in some grand game of kings, but she did wish to grow her kingdom.
