Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

“Jump?” Asked Peyote, thought for a moment, then grinned again. “Jump!” Though his legs were far longer for his little body than they’d be when he was older and grew more into a maturing figure, Peyote did quite love to jump. There were many things to jump in the Lagoon and, even better, there were many mud pits to jump into as well. Sometimes his legs would get stuck and he would thrash and thrash and sink and begin to fear - but there was something exciting about fear.

Before Psychedelic could say anything either to chase Peyote back off (which was what he was keen to do) or push Rivka further into the Lagoon where a bachelor who actually wanted to watch over the trinkets might be, they were interrupted. Psychedelic lifted his white face and looked well, rather boredly at the pregnant mare coming to interrupt his rundown of the rules the Lagoon’s captive would follow. He had expected the Atlantis mare, though maybe not this soon, when both were still nursing the wounds of the battle they’d just had. Regardless, he was prepared if she made to charge him.

Instead, she wanted to talk.

His yellow eyes were pinned on her, unmoved by the anger in her words or her audacity to march into the Lagoon with another stallion and tell him how things were going to be done. When she finished, Psychedelic started to chuckle and then he began to laugh. Peyote, enjoying the sound of his father’s laughter, giggled too - even though he was too young to know why he was laughing, and it seemed very out-of-place. The coyote pup, though exhausted, became nervous at the sight of so many horses and rose, slinking back off into the shadows from whence he and Peyote had first come.

Noticing this, Peyote cut off his giggles to shout, “No!” and turn with a flick of his tail and trot off after him. Psychedelic, who’d been just about to pass off Rivka on whoever he could and go about his day, was now realizing he could no longer do that. He sighed after his laughter subsided, barely paying any mind to the rustling underbrush through which Peyote disappeared to, and cocked his head as he took in the Ridge leader.

“When my brothers voted me in as the new Lagoon boss, they did so because I promised them the Lagoon was no longer going to allow itself to be bullied and pushed around by you ridiculous herd leaders. Make all the threats you want, bring all your might you can muster, but just remember what you bring to me will come back to you, will come back to all that you love, and my only goal for however many years I have left is to cause as much heartache for all of you that I possibly can.”

He squared himself off toward the lead mare and stomped a firm hoof down. “The fact that you think after I’ve beaten you that you can simply waltz in here and tell my captive what she can and can’t do, threaten me and tell me the way things are going to suddenly go from here on… Well, that just goes to show my point, doesn’t it? You’ve all forgotten what the Lagoon means, what this place is, and I am going to remind you all.” There was only a brief pause before he said in a loftier tone, “So, if you want to be first in line, honey, all I have to say is bring it on.” His pale tail cracked decisively at his hind and, despite the soreness in his body, he could already feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins as his heartbeat quickened with excitement.
