David Crosby has died, at age 81. Crosby’s music days started with the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nashi in the 1960s, rolled thru the 1970s with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and concluded with solo work as late as the 2000s.
The Byrds and CSNY's music greatly influenced rock, and is STILL played everywhere from classic rock and easy-listening radio to grocery-store overhead. Younger people may not distinguish Crosby from the groups he played with, but they hear his music, daily.
