This reminds me of Lee Trevino and The Masters.
For a number of years, Lee Trevino didn’t enter the Masters because he said he couldn’t win because of the length and because he only hits a fade and Augusta requires a lot of draws.
Years later on the senior tour, they asked him if he had any regrets or things he do over in his career, he answered yes. I would not have skipped The Masters for those years I didn’t play. I could have figured out a way to win there.
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Phil in a few years regret jumping to LIV. Replies:
