Railroad Strike Chapter III Posted on February 17, 2023 at 08:15:34 PM by Casey Jones IV
Are Railroad Unions still a problem? You and the Dems were celebrating Biden’s settlement of the railroad strike in November and December, then we discovered that only 8 of the 12 railroad unions had signed the new contract.
The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters was one of, if not the biggest of, the railroad unions that had not signed the new contract.
Since then:
January 28th, a train derailed in Keachi, Louisiana, spilling more than 10,000 gallons of acid products;
February 1st, in Detroit, Michigan, a train derailed on a bridge, causing train cars to hang over a street below;
February 3rd, in East Palestine, Ohio, a Norfolk Southern freight train derailed and spilled 23,000 gallons of toxic chemicals. The crash resulted in evacuation of the area.
There are more.
Sheer coincidence? Maybe. Let’s ask the members of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. Or Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigrab.
